Sandblasting at Groupe DPS in Greater Montreal

Sandblasting
Based in St. Catherine, Groupe DPS stands out from the competition with its two sandblasting workshops.

Room 1
60 feet long by 25 feet wide and 18 feet high

This room is mainly used for sandblasting equipment and painted or corroded parts.

Room 2
70 feet long, 36 feet wide, 25 feet high. An opening at both ends of the room
gives direct access to the painting room.

This room is equipped with machines at the cutting edge of technology, with an abrasive recovery and filtration system by feeder auger.
Steel Shot

This metallic abrasive is recycled 80 to 100 times. Steel shot generates very little dust while sanding. It can be used on all metal surfaces.
Sand

Sand is available in several grades and is commonly used. It is less aggressive than steel shot.
Aluminium Oxide

Aluminum oxide is mainly used on non-ferrous surfaces such as aluminum or stainless steel, as it prevents contamination of surfaces with steel grains. The profile resulting from the use of this type of abrasive provides excellent adhesion for all types of coatings.
Glass Beads

Glass beads are mainly used for an aesthetic finish (polishing) on aluminum or stainless steel parts.
Crushed Glass

Crushed glass offers a softer stripping. This abrasive is not used often since it creates a lot of dust.
Crushed Walnut Shells

Walnut shells strip paint without attacking the surface. It is mainly used for wood.
Plastic

Plastic is used to strip aircraft parts, antique cars and delicate items. This abrasive removes paint or coating without leaving a profile on parts and does not cause distortion in metal.
Corncob

Corncob is mainly used for sanding wood since it does not harm the surface.
Surface Preparation Standards
Proper preparation removes impurities and allows better adhesion for the applied products, providing noticeably greater corrosion resistance and superior durability.

We follow the SSPC surface preparation standards established by the Society for Protective Coatings.
